Hello and Welcome to the Wealth Identity Coach
A little about me and what to expect from these monthly (possibly more) newsletters
Hello! And thank you for using your precious time to read this newsletter - it really does mean a lot.
I’m Anna, a professional Coach specialising in wellbeing with wealth - also known as The Wealth Identity Coach™. I’ve been thinking about writing this Substack for TWO YEARS so I’m very pleased to finally be here.
Why now?
I'm here because I have A LOT to say about the emotional and psychological effects of money and wealth - and frankly, my family’s had enough. Plus, my clients’ time is, well, their time.
As an avid Substack reader, I know writing here allows for discussion, insightful questioning and inner reflection - and as the topics of money and wealth can be quite divisive, I would love to open up the conversation - free from shame and judgement and rich in thought provoking chats.
My aim for now is to write one or two posts a month, none of which will be behind a paywall. I will try to be succinct, informative and sometimes light-hearted (in the dryest possible sense).
The types of things I (will) write about include:
When we Marry into Wealth
The Impacts of Generational Wealth
How Much is Enough?
What it’s like to ‘Win Big’
The Correlation between Wealth and Addiction
Raising Children with Wealth
The Fallout from Money Trauma
What I mean by Wealth?
Wealth in and of itself is a tricky and loaded word (more on that in my next post), and it’s connotations are vast so I think it would be worth caveating that when I talk of wealth, it is simply in the context of having more than is necessary. But this statement in itself is complicated (sorry), because what we each deem as necessary differs.
To put this into context, it’s worth taking a peek at the American psychologist Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory (see triangle below) - which so brilliantly illustrates the order in which our needs are met (bottom up).
When faced with this diagram, it would be fair to say that whilst we can’t underestimate the importance of money within modern (largely capitalist) societies - using it for the purposes of basic safety and security does not equate to having wealth. Conversely, once our core needs are met and we have an excess, the role money and wealth plays in our lives changes entirely.
It’s also worth mentioning here that wealth within my writing does not come with a number attached. One person’s wealth is another’s modest means - and this mindset travels from a moderate place of comfort all the way to the top of the wealth sphere.
Simply put, if you feel that perhaps you have more than some others, these posts may resonate - or at the very least, should allow you to think a little more deeply around what you want from your own wealth circumstances.
They may even help you gain clarity on the money dynamics within your family system; prioritise how you work in relation to money; or help you achieve a deeper understanding of what wealth means to you. And if none of these - you can always ping it across to someone you think may benefit, it could just change their life.
Open Door
Lastly, whilst I am all in for open discussion, I know talk involving money and wealth can raise anxiety levels and exacerbate inner conflict so please know that should you want to ask me anything or reply anonymously to one of my posts, I will always respond to private messages.
